Calypso Run Farm is a small training and lesson facility in the heart of Virginia Beach. We provide a low-key professional environment for horse lovers of all ages. Our lesson program is geared to the very young, as well as to the more “mature” rider. Whether a casual or serious equestrian, the common thread is a love and appreciation for the horse.
Throughout the year, we offer riding clinics and sessions for all levels and ages, including our popular summer horsemanship camps.

SUMMER NEWSLETTER
Hope everyone is well as school ends and summer begins. My middle son is now a high school graduate, my job with the city is wrapping up and I find myself spending more time at the farm. A lot going on, but I will try and be brief and if you are interested in something, go to the website where I have updated links.
The summer camp, Barn Days, Full Moon Party, etc are on the website under Summer Schedule. On the side bar is a description of what each offers as well as the dates available. Summer camp is a great way to get a solid grasp on horse riding and management and for those that are already riding, a great way to strengthen and expand skills. Note the Advanced Camp in early July will be 3 days (Tues-Thurs) only. There is still space available for those with a solid trot position as we work over fences. We still do birthday parties, girl/boy scout troop badge programs and trail rides and will have a few Barn Days, which serve as one-day type camps (9 to 3) for those that are interested. Everybody has fun and learns a lot at the farm. Most kids want to live there! The vegetable garden, herb garden and flower garden are in (help me keep them watered), we (o.k. Nick) is making diesel out of leftover restaurant oils behind Capi’s stall – (very interesting!), and the fire pit with Adirondack chairs awaits the S’mores. The deer elude our eyes in the woods by day join the horses almost every evening for grazing. In short, we like our low key, family type atmosphere and the people that are part of it.
The farm has a “for sale” sign at the fence line, but don’t be alarmed. The real desire is to sell 5 of my 15 wooded acres that I don’t use for either a house or an investment. If you know anyone who is interested, $265K and you can be my neighbor! I would even let you keep a horse here with mine!
I have teamed with Coastline Tack Store just a few minutes from the farm to provide a low cost riding package for under $100 which includes pants, boots and half chaps. Tell them I sent you. They also sell clothes and other equipment on consignment. Finally, I am working with the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center, bringing dogs that are due to be euthanized to the states. I have already re-homed 6, two of them with me! Kind of what I do with horses! If you are looking for a dog or cat and with a “tropical flavor” consider a “pet from paradise” and let me know. See the website for details, links and pics of what we have already brought up.
I think that is it. Trying to keep it short. If you are getting this and don’t want to, reply with delete me. My apologies. If you need something, don’t hesitate to ask.
